Family Time

A couple of weeks ago we drove to East Texas to spend some time with our family before we headed out for our Christmas vacation.  I love to see how Sofia enjoys herself with her cousins - they have so much fun together!

Everytime Jude was near Sofia, she felt it was her obligation to hold, kiss and hug on him every 2 seconds!

We had great fun spending time together and to seal the deal to a great weekend, this was our sunset driving home on Saturday.......

Well, its that fun time of year to predict and capture on the memorable keepsake photo how well our children will do sitting on Santa's lap  :o) 


Ever since sightings of Santa began this season, we would take Sofia and give him a "High -5" or a wave whether it was a poster picture or an inflatable with the intent of lessening the scare before the time came for the actual "meeting".  So, that day was today....Sofia didn't cry nor did she smile, but we loved the result of her 2nd annual photo taken with Santa.  :O)

The Singing Christmas Tree

Today we started what is hopefully a tradition for our family during the Christmas season - a Singing Christmas Tree performance at Southcliff Baptist Church.  This visit was dear to me because when I moved to Fort Worth, I was a member of this choir and always enjoyed being part of these performances.  The Singing Christmas Tree has been a tradition of this church for the past 20+ years and it always amazed me how many people returned year after year to see it.  The lights, orchestra, phenomenal vocalists, drama and childrens choir are outstanding and add more Christmas joy to this great season as they emphasize the importance and true meaning of Christmas - the birth of Jesus Christ, our Savior.

The theme this year "Voices of Christmas" brought culture from different parts of the world.  This bagpipe musician, Matt, was kind enough to take a picture with Sofia :o)

And to finish the great day..... our first fire in our fireplace for the season!

Deck the Halls!

A couple of weeks before Thanksgiving, the Christmas decorations were unpacked, Christmas music turned on and the decorating began.  Last year, we had a real Christmas tree - and as much as I LOVED smelling it walking in the house....our fake trees would last longer and I would not have to vacuum every 10 minutes.  I have 3 pencil-skinny trees and they were easy to assemble (two parts) and super fast to decorate.  The only problem....one is missing.  I have three staggered sizes and I cannot seem to find the tallest tree!  So for now, two will have to do.  My little elf did an excellent job taking EVERYTHING out of the boxes and spreading it all over the house.  Overall, we had fun, sang 'Jingle Bells' about 167 times (Sofia says the "Hey" part) and made great memories.

Fun with Food

As I have been blog surfing, I have seen quite a  few very artsy moms who make these super cute meals for their kiddos.  I came across food markers at Walmart and thought I would spruce up a sandwich or two for Sofia.  Although my creativity is very minimal compared to others, it was a fun activity to do for her  ;0)

This particular day, we learned/reviewed shapes :)

Sofia and I found some sidewalk chalk that I bought a while back and thought this was the perfect day to use it :o)......  here is the result of our chalk fun.......

This afternoon, we took Sofia to our former church for some fun and games for Trunk or Treat.  We had a great time seeing our friends and their wee ones, who we miss so much...... 

This year, Sofia dressed up as Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz and I think she particularly enjoyed her costumes because of the shoes :)

After Trunk or Treat, we headed to two houses for Trick or Treat..... then, home where Steven and Sofia camped out waiting to pass out candy.  Sofia didn't know what to think of being outside so late and passing out candy to a bunch of kids in dress up clothes but she stayed put at her station until it was time to call it a night.
