Three Words...

When I have a chance to watch Good Morning America, my favorite section of the show is when families send in videos showing three words that capture the exciting moment that is taking place in their lives at that time.  Some of them are quite tear jerkers, but I love the way it all comes down to simplicity in their description showing their gratitude, desires or love by just using three words.

Although this is not Good Morning America, I decided to use the idea to share our Three Words that described the excitement for today.....

Our 2nd sweet bundle of baby girl will join us in August!

We are so excited, so grateful and so blessed!

The Dentist

Last week was Sofia's first dentist visit.  We had originally scheduled it for a month ago but was cancelled since it fell in the week of the crazy snow/ice weather we experienced. 

To prepare her, we began talking about the dentist a few days before.  We practiced showing our teeth, opening our mouths wide and giving us a chance to see inside her mouth.  The day before, we went to Barnes and Noble to read books about dentists, teeth, the big chair, bright lights and so on.

I was surprised of how excited she was in the car on our way there but really hoped it would last when she met Dr. Stroud and his associates.

I am pleased to say that I was so impressed with Dr. Stroud and his staff.  He is a kind and gentle man and oozes with love for his job.  He didn't make Sofia sit in the chair or shine the bright light at her.... he just simply followed her lead as much as she would let him. 

All in all, it was a great visit.... and we go back in 6 months where she will receive an actual cleaning from the oral hygenist (which I cannot believe!)  ..... and so begins my book search about teeth cleaning ;o)

After I explained I was "one of those moms" with the camera in my hand  - he laughed and explained he had seen everything from iphones to video cameras and welcomed my photo taking as he examined Sofia's mouth.

Window Markers

A while back, I bought Sofia window markers for a different coloring experience :o)  They are easy to clean with window cleaner and Sofia drew/colored with them for quite a while. 

However, I learned a few tips on Window Marker fun and I would like to share them with you....

Window Markers are great for windows! (of course  ;o)  )

and they are also fun for coloring on slick tile floors.....

But..... what they are not intended for are....

Clothing decor.....

and lipstick...........

I was happy to see it wiped off right away without staining  :o)

Surprise!!!!

The weekend of Sofia's birthday party, the three of us had a WONDERFUL surprise for our families......

We were excited to share we were going to be a family of four in August!!

My sister Mari arrived on Friday, so she was our first to test our announcement plan...

It worked!  ;O)

On Saturday, it was Steven's family turn.  After lunch and cake, Sofia needed to "change" clothes.....Since Mari already knew, she was in charge of the camera.... we thought it would be oh-so-much-fun to capture everyone's expressions during this fun time!

Then Amy asked "Why does your shirt say 'Big Sister'?".....EVERY one was silent....but just a for moment....

Boy, that was fun! 

Then my parents had their turn on Sunday......

It took Nani a while...... she even said "Look, her shirt says 'Big Sister' and Mari had the camera ready......no response  :)

Then I said "Mom, read Sofia's shirt again"......

Finally, Grandpa read the news.....

To finish it off, our extended family and far away friends recieved a Valentine's Day card with this photo....

This was an absolutely great weekend!!!!

2 year check-up

Once again, I am amazed that Sofia's last check-up to the pediatrician was when she was 18 months old!  Sure, we have had a few visits here and there but not for them to ask the questions and make observations for developmental norms.

Steven is my hero for many reasons....one of them is because he takes Sofia to these appointments on his Fridays off.  I love that he enjoys doing this ( well, maybe not for shots) ....but he will go with my list of questions and concerns and have answers for me, then he and Sofia have Daddy/Daughter day and enjoy breakfast and the rest of their day with some type of delicious Jamba Juice smoothie.  It is heaven for both of them!

Sofia received a thumbs-up for a great bill of health - Yipppeeee!!!!!

No shots  - all caught up...YaaAAaaaAaaayyy!!!!.....until she's four....BoOOooOOOoo!!!

Weight:  29 lbs and Height:  36 inches

LoTs and lOtS and LOTS of words and sentences!

....and loves to sing!

She is Happy Happy Happy!
...and we love her more than we ever thought possible!

When I got home that afternoon, this was the dialogue between the two of us....

Me:  "Sofia...did you go to the doctor today?"

Sofia: "Yeah"

Me:  "Yes ma'am"

Sofia: "Yes ma'am"

Me:  "Well..what did the doctor say?"

Sofia:  (with the appropriate gesture) "No more monkeys jumping on the bed!"

Goodness!

Happy Love Day!- February 14th

Valentine's Day was a fun (and fast!) day!  Sofia started her celebration with a fun party at Mrs. Nikki's with her friends.

February 13th

On February 13th, we celebrated Steven's birthday at Pappasitos. 

Sofia could not take her eyes off of Steven's birthday dessert treatt and couldn't wait to share :o)

I am blessed and thankful to have a supportive and loving husband who loves God more than me....

We share the desire and strive to raise this precious gift to love God and know Christ as her Savior.

Sofia and I are loved.

For the love of shoes

It has become a known fact that Sofia has a love for books and shoes...... 

Here are two examples of her shoe love...

Recently, Mrs. Nikki texted that she had Sofia ready for pick up and when she went back into the room she had her friend Tristan's shoes on!

Her mouth has been watering to try my boots ...... she finally had Steven help her accomplish this task.....

PS.... by the end of the day, Sofia is done with hairbows and barrettes.....
